Galligan's Pet Portraits
By Rebecca Brown
Idolizing doesn't even begin to describe the
mental state of Los Angeles pet owners. Everywhere
you turn there are people toting over-sized
Louis Vuitton dog carriers, pooches sporting
monogrammed Christian Dior dog collars and
parents enrolling their four-legged
"children" in private training sessions.
It's no wonder that Angelenos are shelling out
for renowned artist Chris Galligan to paint portraits
of their furry friends.
By
using his own mix of whimsical realism, which
he has coined "whimism,"
Galligan has created distinctive pet portraits
that are rich in the personality of each creature.
Galligan's brightly colored paintings are sure
to please any animal enthuiast or excited new
pet owner. These self-indulgent portraits are
generally of the pet's face and chest but here's
the kicker: a portion of every sale is donated
toward various non-profit groups. Animal owners
can rejoice in the glory of knowing their purchase
went to a good cause—plus, it makes a great
gift!
